A Letter of Thanks to Lads to Leaders
Dear Lads to Leaders Board and Staff,
Thank you. Those words are simple, but they come straight from my heart.
It is amazing to think where we were just 12+ months ago, hearing the news–expected though it was–that Lads to Leaders convention was canceled for 2020. We were heartbroken, but we also totally understood. Though sad, we were grateful you made that difficult decision because we knew you had our safety at heart.
And now, here we are, on the eve of traveling to Nashville for convention. We are so thankful. Frankly, we are also amazed that you pulled this off! Though restrictions are easing in various locations, an event of this magnitude surely took a great deal of effort, prayer, work, and negotiation to pull off. I simply cannot imagine the number of decisions that had to be made and changes that had to be approved to get us to this point. But here we are!
As a parent, let me say thank you. My two children are revved up! They missed L2L so much last year because it is just part of their childhood. They have worked hard (though maybe not as hard as we might like all the time, but that’s a different story 🙂 ) to get ready for this year’s convention. I can see the excitement in their eyes as they think about it and talk about it. Those smiles make it worth it!
As our congregation’s L2L coordinator, let me say thank you. Central has a good group coming to Nashville, including some first-time participants and attendees. We are proud of the work our young people have done. Even if they win zero trophies, just getting to come to convention and grow is worth it! (And, yes, we are already working on next year!!!)
As a Christian, let me say thank you. Lads to Leaders makes a difference in the lives of so many of your young people and our families. It encourages a good number of congregations by getting more young people involved and getting more adults involved in helping those young people learn and grow. To have convention back this year is a true motivator to do even better in future years to aid our young people in their growth and development.
There is no way we can grasp all you have had to do to get this year’s convention ready for us. But for all you have done, may we say “thank you.” To brother Johnson, the board, and the staff, you have our thanks.
In Him,
Adam
