A Little o' This; A Little o' That
I’m writing a few shorter things today into one post. Here we go…….
We’ve updated our blogroll on the right-hand side of the blog. Under the heading “In My Feed Reader” you’ll see everything that I get via Google Reader. This is a tremendously helpful tool to help keep up with news headlines, sports stuff, and (of course) blogs. If you have a submission of a blog or site (that can be RSS’d), please email to me (adfaughn@gmail.com). I may not take every submission, but I always enjoy looking at new stuff.

A brief book review. For my biography in March, I read an autobiography. The book One-Half of My Life was written about 40 years ago by Harold Sain, who preached for several congregations in Tennessee. He also spent a brief period of time as the minister for the church where I grew up: Dexter, Missouri.
The book was passed along to me from my dad, and it was interesting to read. The book basically contains lists of interesting anecdotes from brother Sain’s preaching career. While some may seem like tedium (how much money was paid for Gospel meetings, for example), I find it interesting to see how things have changed…or how they’ve stayed the same.
Those familiar with the Sain family would probably find this book interesting. Preachers may also want to give it a look. It is very hard to find, though.

Last weekend our young people had their spring retreat. One of our young people, Shane Williams, loves technology, and made a great video of the trip. He posted it to YouTube. It contains great pictures of the group and their work (and “The Lumberjack Song,” which makes it even more cool!). Enjoy:

Finally, a reminder. If you like singing and are coming to (or live in) Nashville over Easter weekend, it will be my privilege to lead singing at the Opryland Hotel again for Lads to Leaders.
The singing will be Friday, April 10, at 10:30PM at the Delta Fountain of the Opryland Hotel. Three young men from Lebanon Road will be assisting me. More about this later, but go ahead and mark your calendar!

Is Harold, Paul’s dad? The book sounds interesting.

Yes, Harold was David and Paul’s dad. Both are mentioned in the book (where they went to school, where they were baptized, etc.)
