A Little of Everything at Year's End
I had several shorter items that, I felt, needed to be on here, but none of them warranted a full post. So, instead, I just decided to put them all on the last post of the week. Please read each short item carefully. And, this being the final post of the year, we want to say a quick “thank you” for coming to the blog from time-to-time. Please keep coming and please keep spreading the word as well. Our number of “hits” is increasing, and that is exciting to us.
- A survey is done every few years to determine how the internet is being used by different groups of people. A group called “The Pew Internet and American Life Project” recently released its findings for 2005 to date. While the findings are not “scary,” nor do they show surprising numbers, the survey may still be worthy of going in your files. It does show a narrowing gap between male and female users of the net. The results may be read in the article found by clicking here.
- All went according to plan and the e-newsletter “For Youth Ministers, By Youth Ministers” is done. The 10-page newsletter is filled with good articles, sermon helps and other items. If you wish to receive a copy each month, please email Kurt Hankins at kurt@vernon-churchofchrist.org.
- The 9th Avenue church of Christ’s annual youth rally is only one week away. We will begin next Friday night at 6:00, with singing at 6:30. Brother Van Vanzandt will be our speaker both Friday night and Saturday. If you can only come on Saturday, please be here by 8:45 to register. The youth rally costs you nothing and, if you wish to spend the night, we will house you for free as well.
2005 is almost gone. It has been a great year. We have seen the tragic and the sublime. This year will definitely go down “in the record books.” If the Lord is willing, we will continue to post information that you can use on this blog in 2006.
My dad always signs his letters with Third John 2, and I would like to finish this year with the same sentiment:
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
