A Special Gospel Meeting
It is always an honor to be asked to speak at a meeting or other event. While I don’t have a ton of experience in this area, that’s okay. I don’t “expect” invitations, and I do my best not to seek them out. It is a privilege to get to speak and I consider it a great honor to be asked.
Next week, I’ll be involved in a series of Gospel Meetings in a special way. About two years ago, my dad called and asked if I could speak at the Central church of Christ in Paducah, Kentucky. This is the congregation where he preaches. He also called my brother-in-law, Jeremiah Tatum, and asked the same thing.
We are holding a “joint meeting.” There are six services. We are each leading singing three times and speaking three times. I’m very excited about this meeting for a lot of reasons. One, of course, is the opportunity to present the Gospel through preaching and singing. I am also excited to get to spend some time with family through the week. It will also be a treat to get to hear Jeremiah speak. Preachers don’t get to hear other preachers all that often!
The theme for the meeting is “The Bible’s Greatest Hits,” and Jeremiah and I will be presenting lessons that share titles with popular songs. Here is the schedule:
Sunday 9:30 AM: “One Moment in Time” (me)
10:30 AM: “Make Up Your Mind” (Jeremiah)
6:00 PM: “The Times, They Are A-Changin'” (me)
Monday 7:00 PM: “Turn, Turn, Turn” (Jeremiah)
Tuesday 7:00 PM: “The Long and Winding Road” (me)
Wednesday 7:00 PM: “We Can Work It Out” (Jeremiah)
We hope to see you at the meeting. If you cannot come, please pray for this effort. If you have questions or need directions to the building, the phone number at Central is (270)-442-1017.
