A Tale of Two Social Feeds
Feed #1
This is my social media. On it, I want to tell you what I have done. I want you to read what I think about things. I want you to know where I am, what I am doing, and who I am with.
Through my feed, you will see who I am wishing a happy anniversary and who I am telling “happy birthday” to. On here, you will see pictures of me. You will see my new clothes and you will see me standing by my new car. You’ll know that I voted…and who I voted for (or against).
Through my social media feed, you will know what I like and what I don’t like. You will read of stores I like, teams I root for, actors I prefer, and TV shows I recommend. You will know that I like my church and you’ll know when I get to do something there, like lead a prayer or teach a class.
This is my social media feed.
Feed #2
This is God’s social media feed. While my name is on it, I want to use it to glorify Him. My role is simply as a steward of this space for His glory.
So, on here, you’ll be likely to run across good things happening at Church. You’ll see some pictures that I am not in; just showing the wonders of God’s creation when I am blessed to travel (or, just a beautiful sunset from the backyard). There will be pictures of other people–and I won’t be in all of them–because they are people who are worthy of honor.
On here, you’ll be invited to worship. You’ll see links to sermons, articles, podcasts, or other resources that I have prayed will be an encouragement to your soul and help you meet Jesus. You might even find Bible verses or quotes about the Bible from time-to-time, and it is my prayer that you find those things helpful.
Each time before posting something, my prayer is that, in some way, it shines a light on how awesome it is to be a child of God and what an humbling privilege it is for me to be allowed to wear His name. Each good thing in my life–family, friends, church home, travels, possessions–is a blessing from Him. So I pray that you see that through what is shared.
This social media feed may have my name on it; but it is God’s, just as I am His.
Conclusion
Which of those “tales” more likely is from one who…
…is a “living sacrifice”?
…loves God with their all?
…has his or her mind “set on things that are above; not on things of the earth”?
…is more likely to help someone see Jesus?
And, which one would more likely describe your social media feed…or mine?
