An Interesting New FREE Publication
If all goes as scheduled this week, there will be a new publication released this Friday, and it will be free to anyone who wishes to receive it. The publication is called “For Youth Ministers, By Youth Ministers,” and it is a 10-page monthly newsletter sent via email.
Youth ministers in the area where I live are putting this paper together. Each month, the paper will have certain features that are designed to encourage youth ministers specifically, but also anyone who works with young people. Some of those sections include:
- Ideas for devotionals for both Jr./Sr. High and elementary groups.
- A sermon outline (some will even feature PowerPoint slide pictures).
- A section entitled “How Do I Handle…” that will deal with handling common issues that arise from youth ministry.
- A monthly book review and a monthly review of a web site or page.
- I.N.T.E.N.S.E., which is a short article that deals with exegesis of a biblical passage.
- “Idea Corner,” which is simply a short section to give ideas for various things in youth ministry (service projects, fun trips, Bible classes, etc.).
- “Dealing with…,” which is designed to show how youth ministers can deal with various groups of people in the congregation (elders, parents, problem children, overly attached children, etc.).
- A guest editorial, which will vary in content. This editorial written for the first month’s publication is by one of the elders of the Winfield church of Christ, and it is written to encourage youth ministers.
The newsletter is mostly designed to encourage and aid youth ministers in their work, but there is material found in it to help nearly anyone who works with young people.
Kurt Hankins, who works with the Vernon church of Christ, is in charge of compiling a list of email addresses for those who would like to receive this publication each month. If you wish to get this free tool monthly, please email him at kurt@vernon-churchofchrist.org. Please make sure you either email him from the address you would like to receive the newsletter at, or that you include the address in the message.
We hope that you will enjoy this newsletter and that you will be able to use much of the information in it. To view it, you will need the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. The newsletter will be in PDF format. To download the Reader, click here.
