As If You Needed More Reasons…
The Da Vinci Code is set to open in theaters very, very soon. Officially, the film will open on May 19. The book has already sold millions of copies and has made Dan Brown famous and wealthy. The movie promises to only add to his fame and fortune.
Christians are, thankfully, trying to keep people from seeing the movie. Although fiction, the movie will raise many questions. It will hurt the faith of some young people. No doubt, you have already read many articles on the falsehoods found in the book. These will carry over into the film.
But, just in case you needed another reason not to see the movie, let me share one with you. Has anyone even noticed that the film is rated PG-13 by the MPAA? If you have noticed that, have you wondered why?
Two reasons are legitimate: disturbing images and thematic elements. These are vague areas used to move films from one rating to another. However, the other reasons behind the rating should keep any Christian from seeing the movie. They are violence, some nudity, brief drug references and sexual content.
Parents, are your children going to see this film? Are you? I certainly hope not.
