A Feature to Help You Use Our Blog
We are now approaching 600 posts in the history of this blog. In fact, this is post 597. Our front page has just 12 of those articles. The other 585, then, are “stuck” in subsequent pages in the archives. Usually, if articles are in the archives, they are lost forever. However, there is an easy way to see if we have ever written on a particular subject. At the bottom of this page, there is a mini-search bar. Under the box where you type the word or phrase (as you would on any other search engine), click the small circle beside faughnblog.blogspot.com. By doing this, you can search just this…

Friday Links Roundup: Friends and Family Day Edition
We are “gearing up” for our annual Friends and Family Day at the 9th Avenue church of Christ. On Sunday, we are hoping to have 600 in attendance. If you are anywhere near Haleyville (as in, if you are ON EARTH!), please come and be with us. We will have Bible classes at 9:30; worship at 10:30; a noon meal; and worship at 6:00. If you are reading this, you are invited! Also, Sunday is a big day for our family. Mary Carol will turn 2 years old on Sunday! It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since we were waiting in Kentucky for a week for this…

A True Friend (Bulletin Article for October 7)
[NOTE: Sunday, October 7, the 9th Avenue church of Christ will host her annual Friends and Family Day. Our goal is to have 600 in attendance for Sunday morning worship. We will have Bible classes at 9:30 AM, worship at 10:30, a noon meal and worship at 6 PM. You are invited to attend and be our special guest. If you can come, please do! With that in mind, I wrote the following article on friendship for our weekly bulletin. It is not a “normal” article for me, seeing as how it has zero scripture references and does not have 2 or 3 points. Instead, I felt a “general” article…

A Great Journey
While I have not officially reviewed the books, over the past few months, I have been reading all five volumes of Hardeman’s Tabernacle Sermons. I have tried to space them out over the course of 18 months, and I finished reading the fifth (and final) volume a couple of days ago. As I read these old sermons, they did not seem that old. It is amazing how the simple Gospel message seems so new when presented in sincerity and love. N.B. Hardeman had a way of turning a phrase, so one could hear (or read) these sermons in any era and feel as though they were needed right then. These…

A Great Investment
While it may not be possible to figure out exactly how many people watched the tiebreaker game between the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies last night, I’m sure the number was very large. The game was a great one, and will be talked about for many years to come. While I have no idea how much tickets to that game cost, I’m sure they were not free! Many people took time away from their families to go watch that ball game, and enjoyed the atmosphere of a great moment in baseball. Others may have gone with their family and enjoyed sharing that great moment. After the game was over,…

I am enjoying having my mom and dad with us for the weekend. My sister and her 3 kids are coming for the day, too. Speaking of October 7, the 9th Avenue church of Christ will host her annual Friends and Family Day on that Sunday. You are invited. Everyone is invited! Our goal is to have 600 in attendance, and you can help us reach that goal! We will have Bible classes at 9:30, worship at 10:30 and a noon meal. If you can, please come and be…

9th Avenue Youth on Facebook
As I mentioned last week, I have been trying to work on my Facebook page some, and that has included trying to learn how to use certain features of the social networking site. One of the things I have done is created a group for the 9th Avenue church of Christ youth group. I call it “9th Avenue youth group.” (Original, huh?) This page is for all our young people, adults who help with the program and “alumni.” Photos, memories, and videos are all needed. If you are in the group, used to be in the group, or help out with the group, join Facebook and then join the 9th…

The Second Coming: The Rapture
The Second Coming: The Rapture From: iluvleah9, 6 days ago This lesson, written by Drew Kizer, refutes the idea of a secret rapture and, instead, points to First Thessalonians to show what will really happen when Christ returns. SlideShare Link
