Book Review: "America's Real War"
You are in America’s Real War: An Orthodox Rabbi Insists that Judeo-Christian Values are Vital for Our Nation’s Survival.
Seriously, Rabbi Daniel Lapin has written a very interesting book. He writes about how those on the secular Left are trying to take any reference to God, Jesus and Christianity out of everyday life, and how that negatively impacts America in general, and his people (Jews) specifically.
Some of the book will sound like what you might hear if you read a conservative Christian newspaper or blog. Lapin maintains that Christianity is the reason why America prospered in the past and only by getting back to the basic values of Christianity will America continue to be great.
So why would a Jew write this? Lapin admits that it is controversial, even among his people. He holds to the idea, though, that Christians have the kinds of values that allow Jews (who also believe in the God of the Bible) to prosper safely. If Christianity falls in America, Lapin is afraid that Jews will be persecuted or run out of the country.
The book is very interesting reading. Be warned, however. The book is very long. While the number of pages isn’t intimidating (there are 359 reading pages), the font is tiny. Leah looked at it and literally took a double-take. In all honesty, reading two or three pages will wear the reader out!
The book is divided into five sections. I found four of the sections interesting and very informative. I learned some things about the Hebrew language I did not know that will help some in Bible study. Section 4 was not as interesting to me. It was written basically to Jews, and contained a lot of modern Jewish references I had difficulty understanding.
If you are looking for light, devotional reading, this book is not for you. However, if you are interested in the secular mindset–or in liberalism in general–this would be a great book to read. Just give yourself plenty of time to finish it!

Sorry about the Friday links. I am planning a 2-week’s worth list for this week.
I had to be away last Friday and Saturday, so I decided to delay it.
