Book Review: "Memoirs of a Martyr" by David Bragg
The letters written by Peter are two of the most power-packed books found in the pages of the Bible. First and Second Peter should be studied carefully and often by God’s faithful people.
David Bragg, who lives in Southeast Missouri, has written a helpful tool to guide a student or a class through these two wonderful letters. Easy to read and understand, Memoirs of a Martyr will help anyone gain a greater understanding of these two books.
While there are many controversies surrounding some technical issues in these two books (did Peter write both letters, is Second Peter 2 really inspired, etc.), brother Bragg will bring the student to what really matters: the text.
The book features an opening chapter about Peter himself and each letter also has one chapter devoted to introductory matters. The reader will find these “extras” very helpful. Also of great help are the many illustrations found throughout the pages. Preachers would do well to keep a copy of this book on hand for times when they preach from these two letters. A wealth of study and a wealth of illustrative material can be found in this short book.
The book can be purchased from brother Bragg’s website for just $8.95. Click here to access the site. While you are there, you will also want to pick up Love Songs, a class book on the Song of Solomon that I recently reviewed.
