Book Review: "Wisdom's Call" by Drew Kizer

“Wisdom’s Call” is a new book by Drew Kizer which leads teenagers through a study of the book of Proverbs. The book is divided into 13 chapters, making it perfect for classroom usage. I highly recommend the book.

The book goes through the book of Proverbs, but it does so topically. Because Proverbs can seem to “jump around” in subjects from time-to-time, Drew does a great job calling the attention of young people to important topics throughout the book. He also shows a great knowledge of other biblical teaching on each topic.

The book of Proverbs is just as important now as it was when penned by Solomon (and Agur and Lemuel). It is also just as relevant. Drew does an excellent job bringing teachings from ancient times to the modern day so our young people can learn from them. The 13 well-researched chapters are:
1. Introduction
2. The Beginning of Knowledge
3. Wisdom’s Call
4. Who Is a Fool?
5. Promises
6. Seven Things the Lord Hates
7. Opposites
8. Better Than the Mighty
9. The Power of the Tongue
10.How to Deal with an Enemy
11. Small, But Wise
12.Proverbs for Problems
13.A Virtuous Woman

My personal favorite chapter is chapter 12, “Proverbs for Problems.” In my opinion, it is the most relevant for young people today, although all chapters are very good.
