Dateline NBC Update

A few weeks ago, we posted an article about the NBC Dateline series entitled “To Catch a Predator.” In case you missed that article, you may click here to read it.

Now Dateline has run a month-long series of shows on the subject of online predators. They have even gone so far as to air a show telling what has happened to some of the men caught in their raids in different cities. Keep in mind that these stories were not just done in large cities. Many people seem to think that these situations only occur in New York and Los Angeles. That is simply not the case. These men are predators; they will go anywhere to “catch prey.”

You will want to spend a few moments on Dateline’s page devoted to this series. There are video clips, full transcripts and even tips for parents. Please take a few minutes and do some exploring by clicking here. If you have not yet seen any of these shows, they have been re-airing on MSNBC on Friday and/or Saturday evenings. As they say, “Check your local listings.”

Parents, this IS a problem. If your child has a computer with an internet connection in his or her room, then this should greatly concern you. Predators will go into any chat room. Please monitor your child’s usage of the computer. Talk openly about how these people are out there. Help your child be safe.
