Decent Concert, but the Wrong Cause
As I write, the 24-hour “Live Earth” concert continues to roll across the world. I’ve watched a few minutes of it, but have not been impressed with the acts I’ve seen.
Over the past few years, especially the last few months, we have been told horror stories about global warming and what we are doing to our planet. As I’ve said on this blog before, I’m not against taking care of our planet. From the Garden of Eden on, humans have been given dominion over the earth and have been instructed to take good care of it.
The problem is that we have been scared senseless by Al Gore–and those of his ilk–feeding us stories of ice caps melting, animal species dying off and other tragedies. We are led to believe that these things will happen in the next few months if we don’t radically change our ways.
So, Mr. Gore and others put together this grand concert to raise awareness. Of course, it has been covered by major news outlets and Mr. Gore has been interviewed dozens of times leading up to the concert. Admittedly, I have not heard or seen every interview. But I doubt Mr. Gore has been asked a very important question: “What about global cooling?”
Cooling?
That’s right. Many scientists, admitting that the study of climate change on a global scale is still very new, are now worried about our planet getting too cold in the near future. The only good thing this new discovery might lead to is another concert!
