Difficult Decisions

Yesterday, with tears flowing, I made an announcement to the 9th Avenue church of Christ that was hard to make. After countless hours of prayer, thought and discussion, I announced my resignation. I had met with our elders on Wednesday night and turned in my letter, but we decided to wait until Sunday to “make it official.”

9th Avenue is a great place and I love it here, but it is time to move on. I am staying through March to continue the work and to make the transition as smooth as possible, and I hope to be as effective as I can be during that time.

My family and I will be moving to the Lebanon Road church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee. I will be serving as the pulpit minister there starting in April. We have done a lot of research and know that the congregation is sound and we feel it is one for which we can do good things.

No matter what the future holds, we hope that God will get all the glory from our efforts. It has been an honor to work for Him at the 9th Avenue church of Christ and it will be so in Nashville.

We will try to keep you posted periodically on this blog concerning our move, but, in the meantime, please keep both congregations and our family in your prayers.

    Adam,

Having just gone through a change in ministries I can sympathize with you in the range of emotions you and your family are experiencing. I know you will do a great job at your new ministry. I’ll be praying for you to have a smooth transition.

Ahhh…great! I filled in one Wednesday night while they’ve been searching for a new preacher. One of my favorite ladies in the world attends there named Clara May Benedict.

I wish you the very best. I’m just down the road from you at the Old Hickory church of Christ. I had an emotional move, also in May 2007. (I was preaching in Arkansas for 3 1/2 years before the move…I’m now an associate minister here)

Let’s go get some lunch together! Mark.Adams/at/oldhickorychurchofchrist.com
