For Your Weekend…
I thought I’d share some good news with you for the weekend.
In light of our last post, I thought it would be a good idea to share some good news about young people who are facing the pressures of this world, right here in Haleyville. So, here are two quick stories that should make your day a little brighter.
- Recently, one of our young ladies came up to me after services and said, “I have some questions for you.” She is friends with many young people who are in denominations, but who are, as best I can tell, very good kids. When we got together to study the Bible, she had questions about spiritual gifts, women preachers, etc. Pretty deep stuff for a young person. As she was looking up a Scripture, I said to her, “I’m proud of you. Whether you’re studying this for yourself to help someone else, I’m proud.” But her response made me even more proud. She said, “I want to know and I want others to know, too.” What a great attitude toward Bible study!
- Also, it’s the time of year when our young people have been given items to sell for the PROM. They are raising money for that big event in the Spring. Here at Haleyville, the PROM costs (are you ready for this?) over $20,000. However, some of our young people are saying, “no” to this “right of passage.” To my knowledge, at least five members of the Lord’s body are not going. They know that dancing is wrong and they will have no part in it.
While being a youth minister can have its trying moments, these moments make it worth every hard time!
Have a GREAT weekend!
