Friday Links Roundup: Coming Home Day Edition
A lot of congregations “joke” about how much their attendance drops off the Sunday following Easter. We certainly hope that doesn’t happen this Sunday at Lebanon Road.
For several months, we have been planning “Coming Home Day.” It is a day designed to encourage wayward members to return to Jesus. Our elders have sent letters, and several other members have contacted folks in various ways. Countless prayers have been uttered both for the erring and for our congregation, that we may have a great day.
Only the Lord knows how many will attend as a result of the prayers and invitations, but it is going to be an exciting day. We will have a potluck meal following our Bible class period, and we hope many will stay to enjoy the fellowship. We ask for your prayers, that this day will be a success, not in our eyes, but in God’s eyes. We want people to return to the Father’s house!
If you are near Nashville, why not stop by and see how things go on this day?
On to the links for this week.
1. With the recent “Obamacare” health care bill passing, I have gotten several questions about the payment of taxes, especially since abortion was so closely tied to this bill. Albert Mohler writes a post that is quite long, but that is most worthy of your time on this subject. Read “Render Unto Caesar?”
2. Any post that combines (1) advice on marriage, and (2) Wendell Winkler is probably going to make the roundup. Enjoy some of brother and sister Winkler’s notes on Neal Pollard’s blog. The post is “Wendell and Betty Winkler’s Advice on Marriage.”
3. Robbie MacKenzie shares some great thoughts on what we usually consider “good giving,” and what really is Biblical giving. This post has a long title, but a great message. Enjoy “God Loves a Cheerful Giver! or God Hates a Lifeless Possessor.”
4. Here’s one just for fun. If you saw the ending of the Butler-Duke game on Monday, you saw how close Butler was on the final half-court heave. But how close were they? Watch this 80 second video (after a commercial, of course) and you’ll be amazed how close we were to having a different national champion!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend. The weather here is fantastic and we hope to enjoy some sunshine! But on Sunday, we hope to enjoy the Light of God!
Make sure you are worshiping Him on His Day, too.
