Friday Links Roundup: Day Early for Phantom Edition
I know, I know. It’s not Friday, yet. I have a good reason for doing the links round-up a day early, though. I won’t be anywhere near a computer tomorrow (or Saturday or Sunday, for that matter), and I’m thankful!
I am taking my beautiful bride to see Phantom of the Opera in Birmingham tomorrow night, and then we are staying with her family, because I am preaching at the congregation where they worship on Sunday morning. We have been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time. So, with a full weekend–not to mention an extra day–I thought I’d give you a couple of extra articles to read. Here are five good articles from the past week:
1. Matthew Morine, over at Musings on Spiritual Matters, writes a brief but very reflective article entitled “The Problem with Preachers.” Even if you are not a preacher, you will want to take a couple of moments to read his thoughts.
2. Using the background of John Maxwell’s 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, Drew Kizer writes an article called “The Church’s Lid.” Any Christian, but especially any congregational leader, would do well to keep a copy of this article nearby.
3. Signs can get confusing. Steve Sanders takes a few moments to notice some differences in similar signs in his article “Are All ‘Churches of Christ’ the Same?” (By the way, while you are on SteveSight, check out the links in some of his other articles. Steve is very good at “digging up” interesting news stories.)
4. Justin Guin, in an article prepared for the young people where he worships, provides us with a good outline to preach! His article “Is There Anything in a Name?” is worthy of being presented anywhere.
5. How can we get from Brett Favre to the resurrection? The article “Passionate Football vs. Funeral Home Religion” by Chris Gallagher provides an insightful answer.
Thank you for continuing to read Faughnblog. We have slowed up on our articles somewhat, but, hopefully we are still providing you with quality thoughts for your walk with the Lord. Make sure you give Him your all, and don’t forget His day.
