Friday Links Roundup: Friends and Family Day Edition

We are “gearing up” for our annual Friends and Family Day at the 9th Avenue church of Christ. On Sunday, we are hoping to have 600 in attendance. If you are anywhere near Haleyville (as in, if you are ON EARTH!), please come and be with us. We will have Bible classes at 9:30; worship at 10:30; a noon meal; and worship at 6:00. If you are reading this, you are invited!

Also, Sunday is a big day for our family. Mary Carol will turn 2 years old on Sunday! It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since we were waiting in Kentucky for a week for this precious girl to be born. She is worth every moment of waiting and every penny spent on the adoption.

Here are some links for you to enjoy as you plan to be with us for Friends and Family Day:

1. My dad, Jim Faughn, asks an intriguing question: “Is It Wrong to Be Liberal?”

2. Tim Spivey writes a thought-provoking article on older members of the church. Please read “Senior Saints.” (For some reason I cannot link to that specific article, but you can find it on the sidebar on the right-hand side.)

3. New Testament Christians are often called “patternists,” as if that’s a bad thing. Phil Sanders wonders what makes it so bad in his article “The Problem of Patternism.”

4. Drew Kizer helps us understand more about the First Amendment and how it is being misused in our society. Read “The Part Before the First Amendment” from Truth and Repose.

I hope you have a great weekend. Whether or not you can come to our Friends and Family Day, I pray that you will not forget the Lord on His day.
