Friday Links Roundup: Half Pint and "Tex" Message Edition

Last night, I earned some serious brownie points with Leah. Of course, we don’t have cable anymore, but I have still been following the Yankees very closely throughout the postseason on the computer.

Though they were playing (and winning!) the second game of the World Series last night, I took Leah out for a night on the town. We went out to a nice restaurant, then went to watch the musical Little House on the Prairie. Leah has always loved the books and TV show, so she was so excited, and she really enjoyed the show.

While that was going on, I was able to keep up with the game a little bit during intermission, and was glad to see Mark Texeira hit a “Tex” message and help propel the Yankees to a win. Now they are back in the series. Three wins to go to #27….hopefully.

By the way, Little House was pretty cute, but I had the most fun because I was with the greatest woman in the world! Leah is the greatest!!!

On to the links for this week:

1. “Rest.” It’s a word we don’t use enough, except to say, “I don’t get enough” of it! Tim Pyles takes a good look at the Biblical concept of rest in his article “Sunday, Saturday, Tuesday…”

2. Some posts just have great titles, but some follow through with good content. The post “Is Your Congregation Like Las Vegas?” has both. Enjoy the post by Chris Gallagher.

3. I recently added five blogs by college students to my blog reader. I really enjoy reading their look at things. One of my favorite posts is called “Life.” by Heather Fortenberry.

4. Two of our friends, Barton and Allison Kizer, have been preparing to join a mission team in Peru for some time. This past week, they joined them for the beginning of a long-term mission there. Here is a link to their October newsletter. Please remember this team in your prayers.

5. I like posts on leadership. I especially like posts that can translate well to church leadership. That is the case with a recent guest post on Michael Hyatt’s blog. Guest writer Margaret McSweeney writes “12 Strategies for Leadership Success.” If you are an elder, preacher, or Bible class teacher, this is one worth keeping on file.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget to “fall back” one hour on Saturday night.

More than that, don’t forget the Lord at all times, but especially on His day.
