Friday Links Roundup: Headed to Indiana in a Borrowed Car Edition
I’m excited about the Washington Avenue youth rally in Evansville this weekend. My friend, Alan Bush, always does a great job planning the rally, and I enjoy leading singing there.
I just wish I was driving my own car.
What I thought was a timing belt turned out to be a totally messed-up engine, and when you drive a Daewoo, it’s next to impossible to get parts at anywhere near a decent price.
So, if anyone has a low-mileage car you’d like to give me (or sell me for next-to-nothing), I’ll be glad to take it off your hands.
Seriously, I’m thankful for friends like Andy and Mary Jane Kizer. They are letting me take their car all the way to Indiana so that I don’t have to do anything rash, like buy another car this afternoon. Friends within the Church are the best people on earth.
Because I’m headed out early tomorrow, I’m posting the roundup a little early. Here are four good articles for your weekend.
1. Phil Sanders reviews a book that I would like to read (if I could afford the book AND a car payment!) called UnChristian. Read his thoughts in the article “When People Say ‘No’ to Christianity.”
2. Paula Harrington saw a great sight and it made us think of how we need to let go of some things in our lives. Read her interesting article, “Letting Go of Your Balloons.”
3. What happens when you have to make tough decisions (like, fix a car and wipe out your savings, or buy a different car and take on more debt…not that I’m obsessing or anything)? Steve Sanders gives some Biblical and practical advice in his article, “Tough Decisions.”
4. Just for a laugh (and I need one right now), check out this picture article on Paul Kelsey’s blog, Train Up a Child.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. If you’re near Evansville, Indiana, swing by the Washington Avenue congregation for a great rally. Most importantly, though, don’t forget the Lord on His day.
