Friday Links Roundup: Help Us Stay in the 300s Edition

We are going to have a ton of folks away this weekend to the annual Challenge Youth Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This weekend will be so encouraging and educational for our young people and the adults going with them. I don’t know the final numbers, but between 40 and 50 will be there from Lebanon Road.

With them being gone, we need your help! We want to still have over 300 in attendance Sunday morning. We have been running right at 345 the past few weeks, so we are going to be right on “the line” with our group being away. Help us have a “regular” attendance Sunday, and then, when we add in our group that is away, we will be able to say we had a huge Sunday!

On to the links for this week:

1. While it’s not a rule, it’s a “rule of thumb” on Faughnblog that, if you mention our kids in a post, you’ve got a GREAT chance of being included in the roundup. My dad mentioned his “oldest granddaughter.” That would be Mary Carol, and that would qualify! (Of course, it’s a great post anyway.) Read “Stay in the Boat and Trust.”

2. Romans is such a challenging, yet faithbuilding, book. I struggle to understand it, but love the challenge. This post from David Mathis isn’t super deep, but it shows such love for one section of Romans that I had to share it. Enjoy “The Bible’s Everest” from the Desiring God blog.

3. I enjoy reading the restoration history posts on Stoned-Campbell Disciple. Valentine’s post on S.R. Cassius was a wonderful read about a preacher I only had heard of by name previously. This one’s worth filing in your Restoration folder.

4. Since we posted so much about the debate between Kyle Butt and Dan Barker, I wanted to link to brother Butt’s personal reflection on Apologetics Press.

5. Here’s one for the “statistics” file. Religious Intelligence, a British website, released an article listing the attendance numbers for several denominations. Sadly, churches of Christ showed no increase from last year, but there was also no decrease. Here’s the list (thanks to John W. Brown for this link).

6. Finally, a financial link. Dave Ramsey wants us to settle down in all the economic turmoil. He has linked this week to an extremely helpful document. It is not technical at all, and it will put some of the fears you may have about the market at ease. Find that document (and Ramsey’s video introduction to it) here.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend. If you are going to CYC, we hope it’s a wonderful experience.

If you are in or around Nashville, we hope you’ll come and see us at Lebanon Road.
