Friday Links Roundup: It’s Madness Time! Edition

March Madness is the greatest sporting event of them all. That’s true for two reasons. First, it’s true because college basketball is the greatest sport of them all. Second, it’s true because of the real excitement of a tournament (I’m looking at you, college football).

This is my favorite sporting event, and I am totally locked in this year. If you follow me on Twitter (@faughn4),  you have been seeing my “bubble updates,” as I try to project the field of 68. The excitement around the nation about this one sporting event is truly amazing. Sunday, we’ll find out who’s in the tournament, and I’m thrilled!

It’s madness, and it’s the greatest sporting event of them all. “BCS,” you say? Don’t make me laugh!

On to the links for this week:

1. Trey Morgan gives us a really good list this week. Every Christian should read and honestly evaluate the congregation they attend with his “10 Traits of a Healthy Church.”

2. Justin Burleson writes about a lesson he wants to instill in everyone, but especially to the students he teaches. It is one of hope. Writing from his heart, he wants to tell them “You Are More.”

3. I found this post to be very interesting. Michael Hyatt, the CEO of Thomas Nelson, usually blogs about leadership. So, when he wrote this post, I found it to be from an interesting perspective. He wrote about how to speak about your spouse! This is a great read. It’s called “Why Speaking Well of Your Spouse Is So Important.”

4. Neal Pollard reminds us to be honest when we think about the heart of the Israelites in the Old Testament. Reflect on his words in “The King I Want.”

We hope you have a great weekend. As I write this, my heart is heavy over the pictures and reports I’ve seen this morning from Japan and surrounding areas. Those in that part of the world have been devastated by an extremely powerful earthquake and resulting tsunami. It has made me think about how many lost their lives in this tragedy, but also how many souls around me are heading to eternity unprepared. Will I do anything to try to reach even one today? I pray that we all will say something! Send that email. Knock on that door. Write that letter. Make that phone call. Mail that correspondence course. Type that blog post.

Do something today!

And then? Make sure you remember the Lord on His Day.
