Friday Links Roundup: Lovin’ the Rain Edition
It’s raining today.
There’s loads of basketball on espn360.com today (including Duke and Kentucky).
I have two computers.
I love rain!
That is all.
On to the links for this week:
1. Since I mentioned sports in the introduction, I’ll start with a helpful post about making those sports figures our heroes. Becky Welch gives some lessons she and her kids are learning about those “heros.” Read and enjoy “Heroes are Humans.”
2. Sexual addictions (such as pornography) are running rampant in our society, but they can be overcome. The Covenant Eyes blog gives us “10 Tips for Maintaining Sexual Intergrity.” Preachers and elders, this would make some good material for counseling sessions (including premarital sessions).
3. Some responds to the invitation and admits to a wrongdoing. We hug and shake hands…. then we often forget. Robbie MacKenzie shows us that we need patience in a great post entitled “Recovery and the Christian.”
4. Have you ever wondered about those passages of Scripture that seem to say the same thing over and over again? Why are they like that? While it may not be a complete answer, John Piper shares a few ideas that will cause you to think. Enjoy “Theological Reasons for Wordiness.”
5. Sometimes a post just lives up to a great title. Tim Pyles caused me to pause and think of how I treat others in his post “Dealing with Dumbbells.” (Told you it was a great title!)
6. I love my iPhone and I love Evernote. I also love studying the Bible. The Evernote blog recently listed several iPhone apps that can be syched to their software, and one is a Bible study program. If you use an iPhone or iPod Touch, you’ll find a couple of these programs helpful.
7. Finally, a brief post that I hope every elder will read. While Seth Godin was writing about businesses, this brief post definitely has application to church organization. Read “Losing Andrew Carnegie.”
We hope you have a wonderful weekend, though it will be short. Don’t forget to set those clocks forward before you go to bed on Saturday night.
You don’t want to miss worshiping God on His Day!
