Friday Links Roundup: Milestones Edition
When we near the end of March and the beginning of April, we will have two milestones.
The first happened yesterday. March 26 is Turner’s birthday. He turned two. Though we often focus on Mary Carol’s adoption as an amazing story, it’s not out of a lack of love for Turner. He is a great boy, and we love him dearly. It is truly amazing how quickly he is growing (he’s almost as tall as his sister!!!), and he is a smart kid. He also loves to sing, proving he’s a Faughn!
The other milestone is that we will finish our first year at Lebanon Road on the 31st. If you can’t tell from our posts that we love this congregation, something’s wrong with you! God has truly blessed us with a wonderful group of people to work with. We really have a family here, and we’re thankful for our first year; hopefully, the first of many.
On to the links for the week.
1. Do you ever wish you could memorize Scripture more easily? Fallen and Flawed gives 18 practical tips and tricks to help you. You might also find some of the 40+ comments helpful. (40 comments on one post? I’m not sure I’ve had 40 comments total!!!)
2. Every congregation has them: old Bible school materials–especially visual aids–lying around. How do you still use those old materials? Becky Welch at Blessings for Bible School Teachers, gives a very helpful tip.
3. If you ever need that “perfect” picture for a PowerPoint, flyer, or other material, where do you look? There are a lot of sources for free pictures that are perfectly legal to use. Virtual Hosting lists (are you ready for this?) 100 Sources for them! You should never go without the right picture again.
4. The Digerati Life (a blog I check in on every so often, but don’t have on my reader) posted a helpful article this week about budgeting. You’ll find some Dave Ramsey-isms in the article, but it really takes some of Dave’s budgeting tips and helps you see the practical side of them. Read “The Dave Ramsey Budget.”
5. One more financial link. Do you ever wish to take a finance class to learn some of the terms and tips? GenXFinance compiled a list of 20 FREE Online Finance Courses you can take from colleges, universities, and institutions all over America.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend. Our youth retreat is this weekend, so we’ll miss them Sunday morning. We hope they learn a lot and have a great time. They will be back with us for our evening worship when our summer intern will be preaching. More on Monday!
No matter where you are this weekend, make sure you remember the Lord on His day.
