Friday Links Roundup: Mother’s Day 2011 Edition

I love Mother’s Day! In fact, I like Mother’s Day more than Father’s Day, because I like giving something to Leah (from the kids) that helps to make her day. I cook lunch, and try to make sure her day is as slow and easy as possible.

It is a great blessing to have the mother I have. She is so supportive and helpful, and always focused on God. She continues to be such an amazing influence in my life, and I am grateful for her.

It is also a joy to see Leah being such a great mom. Mary Carol and Turner have such a tremendous mother, and they have a “head start” in life because of it.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms. Enjoy your day!

On to the links for this week:

1. Giving is part of Christian worship, but are we to give every Sunday? Wayne Jackson does a splendid job discussing this topic in his article. “Does 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Constitute a Binding Pattern?” [NOTE: Early Friday morning, there was something wrong with this link, but they are trying to fix it. It’ll be worth your time to check back to read this one!]

2. We try to avoid mentioning specific TV shows, movies, or other parts of the entertainment world. This article hit close to home, though, since it dealt with a children’s movie; a children’s movie that has a scene at, of all places, the Playboy mansion. Parents, you need to read this and be reminded not to let your children see such things. Here is the article, from the Covenant Eyes blog.

3. I linked to this post on Wednesday in my article about becoming organized, but I wanted to share it again. Michael Hyatt shows how to get the most out of Evernote, which is one of my favorite programs.

4. Trey Morgan often blogs about being a cancer survivor, and I love the list he put out this week. It’s simple, but uplifting. He shares “7 Things I’ve Learned from Cancer.”

5. I read a lot of financial blogs, but I like the simple posts the best. Christian Personal Finance wrote a very simple list that links to a lot of good resources. It’s called “7 Ways to Get Serious about Personal Finance.” For me, the 7th item is what needs to be improved upon.

We hope you have a great weekend. Many are still recovering from awful storms and flooding in places we love dearly, and we pray for them often. Don’t forget them.

Don’t forget your mother on Mother’s Day.

And, most importantly, don’t forget the Lord on His Day!
