Friday Links Roundup: Preview Edition
In just a few minutes (from when I’m typing this), Dale Jenkins and I will host iPreach. Each year about this time, we enjoy previewing the annual Bible lectureship at Freed-Hardeman University. We enjoy remembering the history of this great event, and we love looking forward to what is coming up for this year.
Our guests for the podcast today are David Lipe (Director of the lectureship), Dan Jenkins (preacher at the the Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ) and, hopefully, Alan Highers (editor of Spiritual Sword magazine). If you can’t join live, you will be able to find this episode on iTunes later this afternoon, or you can listen to it on The Equip Network website. We hope you enjoy it!

On to the links for this week:
1. When one tries to really be a servant of God, there are going to be heart-breaking moments. Trey Morgan shares just such an occasion, but encourages us to continue to do what we know is right. His post is “Ministry Can Really Hurt Sometimes.”
2. It is great to welcome brother Roger Johnson to the world of blogging! One of his good posts from his new blog is “Peace for the Trouble Heart.” I hope you will take the time to subscribe to brother Johnson’s blog. Though new, it has already been a blessing to me!
3. Are we tempted sometimes to just go through the motions as Christians? Jeremiah Tatum uses a moving story from his youth to remind us to “Go to Bat, Swinging.”
4. Leaders, this post should cause you to look in the mirror. Mark Woodward shared “13 Reasons Church Leaders Cannot Recognize That Their Church is Dying.” You may agree with every word, but the list is truly eye-opening.
5. The attitude, “We’ve got the truth, and ‘they’ can come get it if they want it,” should never be our mantra, but, sadly, sometimes it is the mindset of some. Paula Harrington shares just such an occasion in her post “Go Ye?” (By the way, if this story doesn’t break your heart, you might need to do some self-examination!)
6. For one final link, I found this one by Albert Mohler to be very interesting. Joel Osteen finally admitted that something was sinful! Mohler’s take is very engaging. It’s called “The Osteen Moment.”

We hope you have a great weekend! Take the time to thank God for the blessings that have occurred in January, and pray that the year 2011 continues to bring Him glory.
On His Day, make the time to be with His people!
