Friday Links Roundup: RUSH Edition
As a new 30-something (Wednesday was my 30th birthday), it is good to work with young people. They keep me young in many ways, and, if nothing else, they help me stay somewhat in shape! How else can it be explained that they never can beat me in wiffle-ball?
This weekend we are taking a great group to Freed-Hardeman University for RUSH (stands for “Reaching Unlimited Spiritual Heights”). This is a youth rally on the campus of that good school. We have 17 going from 9th Avenue, including several adults. I’m so thankful for the young people who attend these trips, but I’m so very thankful for our adults who help me out in a tremendous way!
If you’ve never taken a group to RUSH, start making plans for 2008. It is a good weekend, and is a great way to “introduce” a young person to FHU.
Here are some articles for your enjoyment:
1. Lance Cordle, at Lance’s Lines, asks “Is the Golden Rule Your Chosen Rule?” (This article is a couple of weeks old. I’m sorry for not getting the link on here sooner.)
2. At From Calm to Chaos, David Courington offers us a poem entitled “Five Sisters” that would make great sermon or devotional material.
3. Our Area-Wide Bible Bowl for the month of September is looking at Luke 13-16. Justin Guin, who is the youth minister at the Double Springs church of Christ, is beginning a series of notes on the Bible Bowl chapters. His first post deals with Luke 13, and offers some good thoughts for our study. Young people (the intended audience of his class) would greatly benefit from his thoughts.
4. Steve Sanders began a 2-part series on spirituality on Tuesday. His first post deals with what spirituality is not. I think you will find this discussion to be quite helpful, especially if you are studying with someone.
5. Phil Sanders saw “A Rainbow” Thursday morning and it helped him write a great article.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Don’t ever forget the Lord, and make sure you remember Him on His day.
