Friday Links Roundup: "Wow" and "What?" Edition
As I’ve scanned over some internet stats this week, I’ve had two completely opposite reactions.
First, the “what?” Just a few days ago, we had 61 readers in feedburner (RSS feed, located on the left-hand side of the page). That number fluctuates a little bit each day. However, in the last couple of days, it has plummeted. As I write this, there are only nineteen readers. Any reasons? That’s fewer than we had over a year ago! I hope it’s just a “hiccup” and things will recover quickly.
Now, for the “wow.” As we approached 100 followers on Twitter, I thought that might be our “cap.” I really thought if we had 100 that would be pretty cool. However, we have blown right by 100. As I continue to like this tool (yes, I see it as a tool), I follow a ton of folks, too. (I’m planning on saying more about it in an upcoming post, so be watching!) As I write this, we have 138 followers! If you Twitter, or if you just follow some folks on the site, make sure you add us: http://twitter.com/faughnfamily
On to the links for the week:
1. Baseball season is set to begin next week. Steve Higginbotham writes a timely article about fun from a quote he read on ESPN. Enjoy “The Root of All Fun?”
2. Another “timely” post came on April Fool’s Day from Joey Sparks. He reminded us that when we don’t follow God, we are foolish. This article is simple, but very powerful. Read “I’m a Fool.”
3. Trey Morgan, who was this year’s Theoblogger of the Year (congratulations!), writes a post about what it takes to be a real man. The picture is a bit scary, though!
4. Our society is about “finding self,” and we see it in nearly every aspect of life. My dad, though, wants us to ask “What are You Losing While Trying to Find Yourself?”
5. John Brown at The Christian Life (welcome to the blogroll) writes of a lost aspect of love in his article “Getting Along.”
6. Finally, an article dealing with organization. Those who look at my office know that I try, but I…well…I fail! I really try to keep things in folders and files, but I just don’t do a good job of it. John Maxwell wrote a post this week on how he keeps up with all the quotations and illustrations he uses for his books and other materials. You will find “File Under F for Filing” helpful.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I’m looking forward to the Final Four (unless UNC wins, then it will stink!), and the opening of another baseball season (go Yanks!).
I’m also–as always–looking forward to another Lord’s Day. Make sure you remember to worship Him on His day!
