Friday Links Roundup: Yankees over .500 Edition
It’s sad that I’m celebrating the fact that my beloved Yankees have finally broken over the .500 mark. They really aren’t very good, but they are playing quite well right now. Maybe they can make a little run against the “Mess” (Mets) this weekend. Today is going to be great, as the teams play a day/night doubleheader with one game in each stadium!
We finished our VBS at Lebanon Road and now we are on to more great things. I’ll be out of town next weekend for the 4th, so there may not be a links roundup. We’ll see. I’m looking forward to speaking at the Memorial Parkway church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama, on Wednesday and then we are going to Leah’s parents house for a couple of days of R&R.
On to the links:
1. People can be downright cruel with the words they say. Jeremiah Tatum presents a good look at this problem in “Negative Communication.”
2. Preacherman gives a long but thought-provoking quote from Brian McLaren about the church and culture in “Engaging Culture.”
3. Dale Jenkins writes about how certain songs can be motivating and emotional on his new blog (have you seen it?) in “Songs That Move You.”
4. PBS’s Frontline recently did a show on how Christianity is making a mark in China. Obviously, they were speaking of Christianity in the broadest sense, but much of the information is still uplifting. As the Summer Olympics approach in Beijing, we are hearing of congregations of the Lord’s people meeting and worshipping and it should cause us to be thrilled! Here is a link to the Frontline homepage for this show. From there, you can access much information.
I hope you have a great weekend. If you are in or near Nashville, come by Lebanon Road and worship with us. 9:00 AM Sunday morning and 6:00 PM Sunday night we will meet to worship God together. Be with us!
No matter where you find yourself, don’t forget the Lord on His day.

It sounds like your VBS was a blessed time and I’m glad to hear it. Thanks for the update to other links. God bless!
