Friday’s Family Friendly Finds {March 13, 2015 edition}
Each week, we bring you lots of links on these Friday posts. While our number of “hits” on these posts is not usually what we get for a regular post, we still enjoy sharing all this great content with you on a weekly basis.
But before we get to this week’s family links, we want to just share a thank you. Each week, we cull through dozens of articles that are great and one of the more difficult things we have to do each week is decide what to include in our links. So, we just want to say “thank you” to all the great writers and bloggers who continue to produce family links that encourage us and teach us. You help us in our lives, but you also make these Friday posts difficult to put together…and that’s a good thing!
With that said, on to this week’s family links.
This Week’s Finds
15 Sites and Apps Kids Are Heading to After Facebook {Common Sense Media}. It’s not that most kids/teens aren’t on Facebook, but they are migrating elsewhere, too, and parents need to be familiar with these common landing spots.
So You Had a Bad Day {Arrows in Our Hand}. This podcast is a favorite, and this episode–in my opinion–is the best they have done so far. Parents have bad days sometimes. How can you handle those days? This episode will help you.
Real Talk with Teens: 4 Questions on Friendship {for the family}. Teenagers crave friends, but how can we help them think through what friendships are truly healthy and good for them? These are four questions that will help you have that talk.
Assertive Communication: How to Have Healthy Conversations with Your Spouse {Mark Merrill}. Some conversations just are not easy, but how can they be handled well? This post shares several conversation styles and how to stay with the best type: assertive.
3 Keys to Protecting the Loyal Boy’s Heart {The MOB Society}. Some little boys are wonderfully loyal, but that could be a bad trait if not handled well. This post speaks to the beauty of a loyal heart, and how to cultivate it for good.
Affording Stay-at-Home Motherhood {Of the Hearth}. Being a stay-at-home mom is not an option for everyone, but some use finances as their only excuse. This post is practical and shows some common ways to cut expenses for those who desire to stay at home (and it does so in a very non-accusatory way for those who don’t or can’t).
Who Are These Kids and Why are They Calling Me Mom? {Mark’s Writings}. Being a parent is so important, and this simple post (literally) spells out what being a “p.a.r.e.n.t.” means.
3 Reasons to Say “I Do” {for the family}. Why did you say “I do” to your spouse? Maybe it is time to remember!
