Today, we share a very short work, but one that is much needed.
Wesley Walker preaches for the Woodson Chapel Church of Christ in Nashville, and is a very thorough student of the Bible and culture. That comes out clearly in his new booklet, Homosexuality: A Biblical Response. Though this is a very brief work, I firmly believe congregations should order it in bulk for every member. It is that helpful.
Wesley was kind enough to send me a pdf copy of the booklet, and I read it in one sitting. The book is only 32 pages long, and can be read in just a few minutes. The premise is very simple. Walker simply answers common questions concerning the issue of homosexuality by going directly to Scripture and pointing out what God says. The tone of the book is not argumentative in the least; instead, it is straightforward and filled with facts. If you are not a scholar, you can still follow along with this booklet and gain helpful information for your own study or conversations.
The only negative about this work is that it is so brief, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since it leaves the reader wanting more! It will point you to your own study in grappling with this issue. Walker has clearly thought through common arguments and questions concerning homosexuality, and he addresses them very forthrightly.
Since this is such a short work, the booklet costs only $1.25 for a single copy. However, if you email Wesley directly, he can give you 100 copies for just $1 each, meaning even large congregations can afford to order enough for every member. I highly recommend that congregations do this, so their members have “the facts,” but also see how to present those facts in a loving and direct manner.
