“Greater Things” Thursday #22 – VBS Invitations and Posters
Lebanon Road’s theme for 2011 is “Greater Things.” For an introduction and video to this theme, click here. Each Thursday, we are highlighting an area in which we are striving for greater things.

This is the 2nd of our 3 VBS posts. This week we want to let you know a little about how we advertise for our Vacation Bible School. This year, we are using the following methods:
1. Ad in our local paper. One of our members has worked on this, and a small ad will be appearing in the Donelson newspaper in the days leading up to the event.
2. Flyers. We have flyers for a couple of reasons. First, we make them available for our members to distribute. Second, some are put in local businesses. These are well-done and to the point.
3. Postcards for the Kids. We designed some postcards on Vistaprint.com and have them available for our children to take. Here is what the front looks like:
4. Business cards for the adults. We also are trying this new method. We designed these on Vistaprint.com as well. They open up and our adults can write a short message on the inside to invite folks to our VBS.
5. Bulletin. For 3 weeks, we make our back page a combination of VBS ad and VBS reminders. We also place things throughout the bulletin to “drop the hint” again!
6. PowerPoint. We have several VBS slides in our announcements, including some that feature the names and pictures of our adult class teachers. These run for about 3 weeks prior to VBS, as well.
7. Spoken announcements. We try not to overdo these, but there is still power in just saying what needs to be said.
8. Posters BY our Kids. Each year, we have a “poster contest,” in which our children make posters related to our VBS. We hang them in our foyer throughout the week, and they are a great motivation to us all. Here are a couple of the posters from last year.
As you can see, we make sure no one can avoid knowing that our Vacation Bible School is upcoming.

The Greater Thing we need to do? Use these ads. We make them available, so use them! Let’s invite all we can to our Vacation Bible School and make it a tremendous success!

Hi, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your website in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer,
it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
Other then that, terrific blog!
