Just for Laughs
Okay, so this has nothing to do with religion, but it’s funny. Today, I want to post two sports stories you probably missed (I saw both of these on Deadspin, which is a sports blog I read, but with great caution!!!).
1. The BCS stinks. You want proof? Here it is: One of the computers used in the ranking of teams has a I-AA (sorry, FCS) team ranked in the top 25. That’s right, James Madison ranks #24 in Sagarin’s ELO-Chess number which is used for the BCS formula. Need a visual? Here’s the link. JMU is #33 on the list, but #24 in the ELO-Chess number, which is the one used in figuring out who will play for the national title. Now, if they hadn’t lost that one pesky game to Duke……..
2. The Olympics have made a major change. If you are a fan of the Modern Pentathlon (and who isn’t?), then you will be disappointed. They are reducing the event from five disciplines to four. This begs the question: what will it be called? My two favorites possibilities:
- The Modern Quadtathlon
- The Post-Modern Pentathlon
Thought you could use a laugh before traveling in that wonderful pre-Thanksgiving traffic.
