Just When You Think You've Seen It All

It is truly amazing to see just how far scientists will go in order to “prove” evolution. We have all seen bones, pottery and other materials which appear to be very old. Those are then given “dates” to “verify” the antiquity of the earth.

But, now, scientists have unveiled a new one (to me, at least). How about ice?! That’s right, a piece of ice has been dug up and shipped to Japan from the Antarctic region. So, how old is this block of frozen water? How about 1,000,000 years!

Notice what Hideaki Motoyama, the project leader, was able to deduce simply by looking at this “ancient” block of frozen water:

The ice core is made up of snow that fell in the distant past….You can use [the ice] to examine changes in temperature, levels of carbon dioxide and methane over time, information that is only available from the core.

Question: how can you measure the age of water?

Also, scientists believe they will find tiny micro-organisms within the cylindrical piece of ice that will help establish great changes in the earth over the past 650,000+ years.
