Katrina (originally published August 30)

Another year, another hurricane! As I write this, the breeze is still blowing a little bit, but things have calmed down a whole lot. There are hundreds of limbs and branches down all over Haleyville, and I’ve seen about 10 large trees uprooted. Most everyone in town has power again, but we are not among that group. Our power went out just after midnight and we are still without. The church building got power back about 10:30 this morning.

The main thing is that we are safe. I guess we’ll start bracing for another hurricane next July (since Ivan came through in September 2004 and Katrina in August 2005).
