Lebanon Road Report: April 5

What an uplifting day! While it was a day crammed full of activity, every moment was completely encouraging and uplifting. As we often say, Lebanon Road is a wonderful place because it is a congregation of wonderful people.

343 attended our morning worship services. Yes, that’s down just a bit, but we’re still moving back up in average over the past couple of weeks. That “trend” makes me excited as I think about the possibilities on Easter Sunday (425?). We hope to reach a lot of folks and encourage them to attend again.

I continued through Titus and presented a lesson on 2:9-10, where Paul wrote instructions to slaves. Thankfully, we don’t have physical slavery in our society, but we made application from these verses to our workplaces. No matter how difficult they may be, they provide a rich mission field and a place to “add luster to the doctrine of God.” Each one who led in our worship yesterday morning did a tremendous job, and God was glorified in each act.

After our services, our families with young children went to the park for an Easter egg hunt. They had a blast! We are blessed with a lot of small children, and activities like these are so fun for them. The interaction that starts even at this very young age will be so important as time goes on.

After that, it was time for softball practice. Yes, I’m “playing” again (notice the quotes…haha). Our team looks better, but, well, that’s the only way it could look after last year. The best part of playing with these guys is that they play with the right attitude and we truly enjoy being around each other. It’s a great time of fellowship with some wonderful Christian men.

Finally, our evening services came and we looked at Jesus: Our Passover Lamb. I usually preach about 25-30 minutes, but I went for about 40 last night, preaching right past 7:00. Still, people listened. The cross still has the power to hold people’s attention. Some cried, while others were obviously in deep reflection as we recounted what Christ suffered in our behalf. I’m thankful for it, and I hope that, by presenting a fairly graphic lesson, others are more thankful, too.

We are now looking forward to our pictorial directory pictures, a singing night on Wednesday, and a big Sunday next week. Why not come by and see what makes this such a special place? You’ll be glad you did!
