Lebanon Road Report: February 15

What an uplifting day! Our attendance was down just a bit, but we enjoyed having a great number of visitors and we also had some great periods of fellowship.

We were blessed to have 345 yesterday morning for worship, and 248 last night. Those are down a bit, but we are going to work hard to get them back up! (And you can help!!!)

It was a joy to welcome another new member yesterday. Julianne Johnson has been visiting with us for some time, and she decided to “officially” become a part of the Lebanon Road family. We are blessed have this wonderful and sweet young lady as part of our church family.

In my Sunday morning Bible class, we finished a journey through the book of Job. We have been going through that book for about 5 months, and it has been an enjoyable study. We tried to spend a long time in the beginning of the book, then select themes that are found in many of the speeches of Job, the friends, and God. I hope the class gained a lot of comfort, faith, and even knowledge from the class. I know I did. We are planning on viewing a DVD about the Founding Fathers and morality in America beginning next week. This series from Apologetics Press, entitled “The Silencing of God,” will be of some interest to this class, I hope.

After our Bible classes yesterday morning, we enjoyed a Valentine’s Brunch and The Newlywed Game. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and fun. Leah and I came in second (out of four couples) and won a beautiful pot of tulips. These were special to me, for my recently-departed grandmother used to love to raise tulips! These are going in our yard ASAP. There were a lot of laughs and wonderful Christian fellowship from the day.

It was also a joy to speak yesterday afternoon at Heartland Assisted Living. Lebanon Road handles the services there one Sunday each month, and it was my turn to speak. The residents there are always so welcoming and kind, and I enjoy the time with them.

It is nice to be back in the normal swing of things (however a preacher can define “normal”). We love Lebanon Road–as if you can’t tell!–and it is a joy to be a part of this growing, faithful, loving congregation. Come see why!
