Lebanon Road Report: February 22

Another uplifting day on “the pike.” We were blessed to have 340 in our worship yesterday morning, including many visitors from all over the place. Our Bible school numbers were good, as well, with 284 present. Last night, we had 263 in attendance, including some folks from Haleyville, Alabama! Seeing Leisa McCreless and her son, Rick’s, family there was a wonderful treat. We enjoyed worshiping with them, then going out to eat and catching up after services.

It was a joy to preach yesterday morning from Titus 1. We are walking through that brief but practical book on Sunday mornings. We looked at the qualifications for elders from that chapter, but presented the lesson that all men should strive to have these qualities. We also mentioned that we should be doing our best to raise a generation of young men who have these qualities deeply ingrained in them. Here is the PowerPoint from that sermon (again, I apologize for some minor changes in the look of the show. Scribd doesn’t read all fonts):

What Does God’s Man Look Like

Last night, we continued to look at sermons from our daily Bible reading, this one coming from Galatians 2. I got the idea from one of my favorite sermons I heard Andy Kizer preach. We looked at the time when Paul opposed Peter and noticed some principles from that chapter on how to deal with conflict. (Thanks, Andy, for the idea!!!)
Also yesterday morning, I began a new Bible class. We began viewing the DVD seminar The Silencing of God by Dr. Dave Miller. The class was packed, and everyone thinks this is going to be an eye-opening and helpful study. I’m glad there are so many interested in this topic.
We look forward to a busy, but rewarding week, and we hope that you will come by anytime you have the opportunity. Lebanon Road is a special place. One visit and you’ll see why!

I keep waiting for you to say, “Yesterday was horrible, we had a guest speaker! No body showed up as a protest.”

It is great how revitalizing Sunday worship services can be. Worship is becomeing more and more the centerpiece of my week.

“The Silencing of God” by Dave Miller is fantastic! I am so glad other congregations are sharing this. We did the same thing on Wednesday nights.
