Lebanon Road Report: January 11
It was cold yesterday, but only on the outside of the building. We even saw snow, though it was just about 11 flakes! The cold weather (nor the Titans loss…grrrr) could not keep us from having a very uplifting day at Lebanon Road, however. Our attendance suffered a bit, but we were blessed with a tremendous number of visitors.
Our Sunday morning attendance was 330, and we were blessed to have 282 for our evening services. With the cold weather, we are dealing with the illness of several members, but we are thankful for good attendance despite those who cannot attend due to sickness.
Last evening, we had quite an occurrence. When my family pulled in the parking lot, a few members were helping an elderly man park his car. As I walked over, I knew he was not a member of Lebanon Road. Sadly, this man was lost and was having trouble remembering where he was going, or how to get home.
Several members helped to get him inside (out of the cold) and, using his ID, called the police and his house. Finally, his family came to get him. They had been looking for him for about six hours. It was truly a sad event, but it showed the compassion and helpfulness of several members of Lebanon Road.
Due to the number of visitors we had, I’ve got quite a bit of driving to do this afternoon! I always enjoy going to the homes of our visitors to let them know we appreciated their time with us. Visiting is not always a comfortable for people from the community. Thankfully, the members of Lebanon Road help make it more comfortable, as they are amazingly friendly. But, in my mind, a return visit (preferably on Monday) lets the people know that we are grateful for their effort and time. (Just for your info: I do not visit those who write on their cards that they are members of other churches of Christ. I send them a card, but I do not wish to give the appearance that we are “sheep-stealers!”)
We hope you have a great week, and we hope that you will be one of our visitors at Lebanon Road soon!
