Lebanon Road Report: January 25

What a great day! While worshipping God is always an uplifting time, yesterday those who led our songs, prayers, and readings seemed to go above and beyond. It also didn’t hurt that our attendance shot back up yesterday!

The weekend got off to a good start on Saturday, when the ladies had a luncheon. Leah was the speaker and several have already told me she did great. I knew she would!!! About 50 of our ladies attended and enjoyed a devotional, great food, fellowship, and planning. The ladies are using “Let Your Light Shine in 2009” as the theme for their meetings and activities. These ladies truly live that theme, too!

Yesterday morning, I preached a sermon about our adoption of Mary Carol. As I mentioned on Friday, I don’t often tell stories, but this one seemed to go over quite well. I actually made it through without crying until right at the very end. Oh, well.

We also announced again about Dylan Stevens being baptized and about Chris Johnson placing her membership with us. These are always such exciting announcements and they encourage us to reach out even more!

In the afternoon, several ladies came to a baby shower for Rachel Hammers. As far as we know, when their baby boy is born (due in March), that will be the end of the “Lebanon Road Baby Run.” That will be four babies in about six months! (Please keep our cradle roll teachers in your prayers!)

Last night, brother Harry Middleton brought our lesson. He taught us lessons from the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20). It was a very helpful lesson and one that caused us all to think about our level of dedication.

As I mentioned, our attendance was back up. We were blessed to have 379 with us in worship yesterday. Also our Bible school attendance and Sunday night attendance are holding steady at very good levels. 294 were present in Bible classes, while 288 were with us last night for worship. While there is always room for improvement, those numbers are very good.

We are looking forward to a full week and, Lord willing, we hope to have another great Sunday as we begin February next weekend. If you are in or around Nashville, come and worship God with us!

I always cry during some sermons. I kind of like it these days. It shows you have heart my friend, and besides I would worry about you if you did not shed some tears.
