Lebanon Road Report: July 27

I got home on Friday and remembered, “Oh, yeah, the Friday Links Roundup.” Oops. Sorry. The links are below.

We had another great day at Lebanon Road yesterday. While our worship attendance has been fantastic, our Bible school attendance has been off a bit. So, I preached a sermon about the importance of Bible school. Thankfully, it was very well-received. Many were thankful that I was willing to “tackle” that. Their comments were very welcomed.

We had a guest speaker last night. Brother John Gross from Winder, Georgia, presented a short review of the work in that community and then presented a powerful lesson from Psalm 130. You might recall that several weeks ago, we had a large group go to Winder to help with many works and they also led a VBS. It was nice to have someone from there come here to share the work with us.

Finally, after our evening services, we had our camp awards and slideshow. The slideshow was so well done, and showed what a great time our young people had. The end of the show, however, was what will stay with me. There were pictures of all four young people who were baptized during the week. In addition to those four precious souls, five others were restored. We are so proud and pleased with the work at camp.

All told, we had 334 in worship yesterday morning. Since I preached on Bible school, I was interested in those numbers as well. We had 254 stay with us for Bible class. That was up (a LOT) from last week, and I’m thankful for the attitude of those who heard the lesson and took it to heart.

If you are ever in Nashville, come by and see us.

Now, three days late, here are the links from last Friday:

1. David Courington shares some information about a very popular song with us in his latest bulletin article. Parents, this one is worth your time!

2. Neal Richey’s wife, Emily, wrote a poem for his blog entitled “I Teach Because…” This is good material for a sermon or a teacher’s appreciation dinner.

3. If you haven’t been able to tell yet, I love my iPhone. I also like the English Standard Version (although I still don’t preach from it). The ESV blog shares some applications for the iPhone that incorporate the English Standard. Some cost money, but I have downloaded the free application and used it a couple of times.
