Lebanon Road Report: June 15
Another spiritually uplifting day, with a great number in attendance (wait until you see this number!). Things are going so well, and we know this is an exciting time at Lebanon Road.
First, the best news of the day was that Sophia Bacon put Christ on in baptism last evening. Before our worship last night, I was told that she would be responding, so, when she did, I told everyone that this was the reason I talked so fast during my sermon! She requested that our youth minister, JD Buckner, baptize her, and he did a great job with that honor. Sophia will be a tremendous asset to the Lord’s work here.
Here are a couple of pictures of the baptism:
We enjoyed having many visitors yesterday for Father’s Day. It was so refreshing to see that. Often, there are a lot of visitors on Mother’s Day and very few on Father’s Day. I was so proud for our dads who had kids come in for the day. In all, we had 378 in attendance yesterday morning.
Our group that went to Winder, Georgia, on a mission trip returned with great news of their work. They did a lot of physical work around the area, and also conducted a VBS at night. The attendance at the VBS was good, and the congregation was so impressed with the work. When our group was pulling away last Friday morning, those who were there to see them off actually cried. What a testimony to the work and the great attitude of all who went!
We have a lot of physical changes going on around here, and that’s exciting, too. The floor in our fellowship hall is being updated and is looking wonderful! The only problem was that the workers did not finish, so my class could not meet. I guess I have my lesson ready for next Sunday, though! I did get to attend the young adult class. Lon Keele taught that class yesterday and did a tremendous job.
In addition to that floor, much of our downstairs is getting new carpet that looks very nice. Also, one of our classrooms and my office have been given new chairs that are so comfortable and are a welcome addition. In addition to all that, we are resealing our parking lot. The part that is completed looks so nice and neat. All this–and a couple of other projects to come–without touching any part of our budget! Our building is looking nice and is so welcoming to visitors.
You should come see it during our VBS:
That wonderful program will start next Sunday night. I met yesterday with our staff and things are going so well. It’s going to be a really well done VBS, as we think about service in God’s Big Back Yard. I’ll have more to say about our adult speakers later this week.
Can you tell we’re loving it at Lebanon Road? Why not come see why we love it so much?
