Lebanon Road Report: June 22 (VBS Night 1)

Another great day at Lebanon Road. We had good attendance at our services yesterday morning, and our VBS got off to a grand start yesterday.

For our morning service, I completed a series I’ve been preaching on church growth. It was well-received. We were pleased to welcome 3 new members to Lebanon Road yesterday morning. Gene, Margie, and Clyde Mullen moved their membership and were welcomed warmly by the congregation yesterday.

At our VBS last night, brother Rickey McCreless did an outstanding job presenting a lesson on Miriam: Serving Family. His lesson was Bible-based and well-delivered. It was a joy to see he and Leisa again, and to get to hear him teach!

Our youth minister, JD, leads the young people in singing at VBS before they are dismissed to their classes and activities. Here are a couple of pictures of that from night 1:

All told, we were blessed with a lot of visitors at both services yesterday, several of whom say they will be back, and soon! That just provides us more encouragement. There were 323 in attendance yesterday morning, and our VBS got started with 297 present!

If I may add one prayer request to this post: our former preacher, brother Mickey Bell, will be having surgery tomorrow in Houston, Texas. He has a mass on an intestine, and the surgery will determine if it is benign or not. Please pray for him and his good family today as they wait and tomorrow as they go through this procedure.

Ah, VBS. We had ours the first week of June, one week after went to camp, then I went to Adamsville VBS tonight. I hate to admit I skipped out on the singing after class. I think I am on VBS/Camp overload. But I really do enjoy it. Sorry to hear about Micky Bell. He spoke for us a time or two when he was at Hoover. I had lost touch with where he was. Keep us posted.
