Lebanon Road Report: November 16

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, especially the Friday Links Roundup. I have been sick since the middle of the night Thursday/Friday, and was barely able to get out of bed, except to go to the doctor Saturday morning.

They gave me some medicine and it is helping. In fact, it helped enough that I was able to worship yesterday morning, and preach last night. We were scheduled to have Micky Bell preach yesterday morning, and that was a blessing in a lot of ways. He did a great job, and it also helped me, knowing I could just go and not have to worry about making it through a sermon while my medication kicked in.

We also had a youth retreat this weekend. They hada wonderful retreat, with about 50 in attendance. By all accounts, it was a great success. Several returned home Saturday night, but there were still 37 on the retreat Sunday morning, as they closed out the retreat with worship. That number is significant, because it helped us cross a threshold again.

How? We had 367 in worship yesterday morning. That’s a great number, but, when you add in the 37 at retreat, our real attendance was 404! That’s twice we have crossed 400 when we add together worship and those away on trips. We hope to have over 400 in our building at one time soon.

It continues to be a joy to work with the Lebanon Road family. On a personal note, I am so grateful for the concern so many have shown the past week, as I have been under the weather a bit. Some people think preachers should never get sick, but these loving folks understand. Many wanted me to not preach last night (that could be taken more than one way!) out of concern for me. That really makes me feel good to know that people understand when I don’t feel well. That being said, I hope this doesn’t happen often, and I hope to be back to normal as quickly as possible.

If you are ever near Nashville, you’ll be doing yourself a favor if you come by and visit Lebanon Road.
