Lebanon Road Report: November 23

We had a ton of folks traveling for the holidays yesterday, and we also had some who were leading worship in Pearlington, Mississippi, so our numbers were a bit down yesterday, but that sure didn’t dampen the spirits on “the Pike.” It was another uplifting day. We were even spared from the cold weather a bit and enjoyed a beautiful day.

I preached a sermon yesterday morning entitled “The Truly Thankful Life,” based on Psalm 107. Instead of preaching a “count your blessings” sermon for Thanksgiving, I decided to preach a sermon on what a thankful life looks like. Here were the points:

I. It is a Secure Life (v.1a).
II. It is a Steady Life (v.1b).
III. It is a Speaking Life (v.2-3).
IV. It is a Sacrificial Life (v.22).
V. It is the only Sensible Life (v.43).

Last night, Harry Middleton preached a sermon on the question, “What Must I Do?” and did a wonderful job. It was a privilege to lead singing for the service.

As always, it was a day filled with visitors from all over, including our community. What a blessing! All told, we had 324 in worship yesterday morning, with a handful more in Pearlington.

My family is looking forward to traveling later this week for Thanksgiving, and visiting with Leah’s family. We will be staying for a few days, and will miss Lebanon Road while we are away. That being said, the “report” might be a little later in the week next week.

However, if you are in or around Nashville next Sunday, make sure you stop by and see what makes Lebanon Road such a special place.
