Lebanon Road Report: October 19
Lebanon Road was again a blessing to me. I chose to preach on giving yesterday morning in a “survey” style (just some basics). Sometimes, sermons on that topic are not well-received, but Lebanon Road is a special place, and many thanked me for the sermon and complimented certain aspects of it. That was truly encouraging. (It was also encouraging that we were well over our budget this week!)
We were pleased to welcome two new members to the Lebanon Road family yesterday. Everett and Betty Green have been visiting with us for some time and finally made their membership “official” by expressing the desire to work under the oversight of our elders. We are thrilled to have them as part of our family.
We were also moved by the response of brother Curtis Hall yesterday morning. He responded saying that, due to some health problems, he had been discouraged and felt as though that discouragement had caused him to be a poor example at times. Curtis has faithfully preached the Gospel for many years, and it takes a man of true strength to admit to these types of problems. One of our elders, Cliff Wilson, led us in prayer in brother Hall’s behalf.
Our attendance picked back up yesterday, and that was encouraging, too. 372 were present for worship, with 282 for Bible classes. We are thrilled that we are now staying around the 370 mark and making that our new “normal” Sunday attendance. We hope that this “normal” number continues to increase in the near future (400?).
Next Sunday, I’ll begin a Gospel Meeting with the Double Springs church of Christ in Alabama, so I’ll miss the good folks at Lebanon Road. But if you are in or around Nashville, come by and see these wonderful people. You won’t regret it!
