Not-So "Golden" Globe
Last night, the famous Golden Globe awards were handed out. These awards are given in dozens of different categories in several areas of entertainment. When it comes to film, many critics and fans will say that these awards are a “forerunner to the Academy Awards.” Many films over the past few years have won “Best Picture” at both ceremonies (and the same can be said in many other “major” categories).
If that is the case again this year, then the 2006 Academy Award for Best Picture will be given to “Brokeback Mountain,” and that should cause a great number of Christians to question the awards, if they didn’t do so already. Why? Because “Brokeback Mountain” is a movie in which the main characters are homosexuals. In reporting on the evening, CNN said:
The Western, about a romance between two male ranch hands, won four Globes, including best dramatic film, best director (Ang Lee), best song (“A Love That Will Never Grow Old”) and best screenplay (Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana). …”Brokeback Mountain,” which has been nominated for several other awards–including the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild honors–and was named to dozens of critics’ 10-best lists, has also been a solid performer at the box office so far.
Isn’t it sad that a film that promotes such blatantly homosexual propaganda is being honored? It is also tragic that so many are helping to promote this propaganda by paying to see it.
Please take the time to read the article written by David Kupelian about this film–which takes the time to explain much of the movie–that was published on World Net Daily. It can be read by clicking here.
Christians need to question their choices in entertainment, and need to be very discerning. May we never help promote such trash in the name of fun. Read Romans 1:28-32, and focus on the fact that those who “approve of those who practice” sinful things are deserving of death.
