A Quick HomeSchool Update, and A Little Blog News
HOMESCHOOL:
I am planning on putting up some posts about homeschooling on Mondays from time-to-time (replacing book reviews).
For this update, let me share with you how we handled our first week off. That’s right, we’ve already taken a week off!
We started school early (August 1) to account for the week we spent at Polishing the Pulpit. So, we had 9 days of school before leaving on the trip. Most schools are only about 5-10 days into their schedule as of today, and we are right on track, due to this flexibility (today is our 10th day).
We are happy that homeschooling allows that flexibility. It is not, however, our intent to abuse it. It is our intent to use that flexibility to the advantage of our kids, as they learned so many great lessons at PtP.
Just thought you might like to know!

BLOG
We have added a couple of new features to our blog. You will probably only notice one of them. That is, below each post, there is now a “share/save” bar. You can choose to bookmark posts, or share them via Twitter, Facebook, or other outlets. You can also choose to email the articles. We hope you’ll use this feature often to share the posts.
The other changes are more “behind the scenes,” and we continue to work on them. We are working on making our site more “Google-friendly.” If you have any knowledge in this area (especially as it pertains to WordPress), we would appreciate your help. Contact us at adfaughn AT gmail DOT com. Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions and tips.

Good luck with the homeschooling. Our family is now a year into it and each day that passes makes us more satisfied that we have done this. I thank the influence of others who have done this before us.

I look forward to this addition to the blog. Charity and I homeschool as well.

Freedom and flexibility are two if the great advantages to home education. We are in our second year and love it! Best wishes on your journey.

Why would y’all want to homeschool?

John,
That’s a post that I’m still writing. We have tons of reasons. I will state that it is NOT because we think it is wrong to send children to public or private schools. We are homeschooling because we feel it is what is best for our children, personally, but we have tons of specific reasons.
Thanks to all for your comments thus far.

Adam, I have been writing that piece about why we homeschool for 18 months now. Everytime I think I am finished and ready to publish it I discover another reason that I didn’t even realize. I would personally love to see how your history in youth ministry influenced your decision. That would be interesting to me (and probably nobody else, lol).
