It Starts Tonight
It’s time for college basketball. Thank you, college football. You’ve held our interest for a few weeks, but then we were reminded that you don’t have a playoff.
So, it’s time to tip off the greatest sport, which also features the greatest ending of them all. Tonight, three games get us underway in the season that will roll all the way to early April, when we crown a champion where they should be crowned, on a field of play, instead of in a computer system.
So, to help you get ready for the excitement, here are three things.
1. Two years ago, I wrote a post called “10 Reasons We Love College Basketball.”
2.Two videos of one of the greatest traditions in hoops: crowd fun. I know football fans sing and chant, but there is nothing like hearing the sound in a hoops arena. So, here are two short videos from the fans at Utah State.
3. The 2011 “One Shining Moment” video. The best part is 2:32-2:39, where Kentucky coach John Calipari calls a player over to the bench. Each year, I love how the tournament ends with this great tribute to the best 3 weeks in all of sports, and puts a cap on the season of the greatest sport of them all coming to an end.
Enjoy the season, and enjoy that it actually looks forward to a playoff. It’s a concept that just might work!
