Three Sermon Outlines
One of my favorite things about being part of a family of preachers and teachers is the number of lesson ideas and outlines that are tossed back and forth between us. There is nothing like a good scriptural idea from a fresh perspective to get the gears turning and motivate deeper study for the purpose of sharing that study with others. Over the years, I have probably been given upwards of 50 sermon outlines from different members of my family (and used a few of them, too) and have also shared several with them.
Today’s “article” has three goals in mind. The first is to give you, dear reader, three sermon outlines from the Faughn family vault that will hopefully be an encouragement to you and may serve to outline a personal study of your own (or even a sermon or lesson, for you preacher folk out there). The second is to provide a glimpse into the sermon-making process by including one each of the three major types of sermons: one topical (examining a topic using multiple references across the Bible), one textual (examining a short excerpt of Scripture), and one expository (examining a longer passage of Scripture).
The third is to have a little fun. I’m including one outline from Adam, one from Jim, and one that is an original of mine but will not say which is which. See if you can guess who wrote what! (There’s no prize other than bragging rights.)
